Background Checks on People - Nowhere to Hide Assets

Background checks on people are so easy these days it's become common-place for spouses to investigate each other to discover what affairs and assets they might be hiding. Now it's not all that common that inexpensive background checks will reveal individual bank accounts but odds are the apartment on Long-Island and the house in the countryside are going to, particularly if they had to use some sort of credit to obtain them.

Other records people are likely to search are the dreaded cell phone record searches. If you've been calling the same number over and over again (a.k.a. your mistress' phone number) and you happen to leave your cell phone lying around... well just don't come crying on my shoulder when she takes both the Long Island apartment, the house in the country, and the Ferrari, k?

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of benign uses of background checks and cell phone searches (executives lying about resume data comes to mind, as well as child predator address databases), but the most frequent use of background checks is lying about affairs and hiding assets. Private eyes have long known this sort of information was publically available - it just used to be MUCH harder to troll through records to find it. Not so anymore. Don't believe me?

Do a background check on yourself. See how much your neighbor can find out about you.
